Merry Christmas all! I hope you had a great Christmas and haven’t over done the food and drink. I didn’t go over board but eat and drunk more then normal and it will be important to get back into my diet and exercise program that I did last year. A lot of the exercise came in the form of riding an exercise bike. That, as well as the kids getting older, was a little of the motivation for the present I asked Santa for.
Patty in New School Uniform
This is a sad photo in many ways. It marks the realisation that Patricks time are Oakwood Park Primary is coming to the end. The school we choose to him is on its last legs and will close for students tomorrow for the last time. Next year he will be going to the merged school, Yarraman Oaks. I think he will deal with a lot better then Lid and I will. It has heart breaking to see the principle leave, then a leak of Teachers and kids (including his Grade 1 teacher after first term).
Part of the reason for the merger was so that all schools in the area could share in the Government money, and I for one will be hot on their tail to make sure they come through with the funds that the virtually promissed for a rebuild of the new school that is in desperate need of it! Alex and me at the Park
We recently went down to the park with our friends from next door to play cricket. We had a ball. Alex had great fun with me picking him up and hanging him upside down and the likes. Patrick enjoyed the cricket especially when he had me hit the ball onto the oval.
Hawks, Donuts and Patty at Waverly
This photo was from September at the final Hawks (Hawthorn Football club of the AFL) training session at Waverly Park before the Grand Final. Some one was nice enought to give Patty (who still had his face painted from our trip to the Royal Melbourne Show the day before) a donut that they were selling at the day that were specially sprinkled with Brown and Gold sprinkles. For those that don’t know, the Hawks went on to win it all 3 days later!
We have olives growing!
When we moved into our new house three years ago, one of our friends gave Patty an olive tree to plant because Patrick is well know among our friends for his love of olives. The tree grew well and is now very tall. We did wonder if it would ever flower up until about a month ago.
Then the flowers bloomed and started to go away and I did a bit of research as I was sure that just because it flowered, could it be that the plant was a male plant. Again, more research suggested that olive trees in general have male and female parts to the flowers in the one plant.
Happy Thanksgiving America
In honor of the US celebrating Thanksgiviing I thought I would share a photo with something a bit more American then you (or at least I have) find in Australia. While I was over there I found that they tend to eat their Pumpkin a bit on the Sweet side.
Here is an example of that. Its Banana Bread with Pumpkin Ice Cream. I actually went to the same place two nights in a row, Flatbreads Pizza, and the food was great. I had the Banana Bread two nights in a row and on the second night plucked up the courage to have the Pumpkin Ice Cream. I came to like the sweeter side of Pumpkin and am even considering making Pumpkin Pie at some time.
Oh Christmas Tree
Its starting feel a lot like Christmas and so it was time to put up the Christmas tree at the Malone house hold. I have to say I didn’t play any part in it this year. My mother-in-law has been helping out and she, my wife and 4 year old, Alex did it while I was at work.
It looks great in person, the photos didn’t quite work out as well. I have tried stiching a group of photos together, hopefully it looks good on the site!
