Description
My eldest son,
Patrick, came in last week to let me know there was a Cicada on our drive way. We have lived at our house for about 3 years and last year we found that we had a big Cicada community in the front area of our house. I actually (unknowingly at the time) noticed their existence as when we were buying the house there were a lot of holes around the trees in the front area. It sort of worried me at the time because I didn't know what the holes where but an inspection wasn't concerned.
So the first year we were here we started to find Cicada Shells on the fence and the 2nd year we had a bit of a heat wave and that knocked them around a lot and we found many dead ones, something that I actually hadn't seen before. Last year we were much more aware of them and found them around the place and even found some that where coming out of there shells.
I really find them amazing and don't be suprised if you find more photos of them on here over the next few months. This photo is the one Patty found after it had been slightly attacked by our cats. It had a bit of trouble flying but we put it in our tree and it wondered up so hopefully it was okay.
