Well, I am writing this from the Monash Hospital in Clayton (Victoria, Australia). I am in since yesterday with an infected Sebaceous cyst on the side of my face. I am in till tomorrow at least (Monday 23 March 2009) to have a CT scan of the Cyst and after that, they may choose to Lance/Drain or even remove it. Or possibly send me home.

I have had the infection for about a week and a half (this photo was taken last week and its a little worse now) and after two trips to the doctors I was on antibiotics that were having little effect. Panadol was doing the trick to keep the pain down but the infection wasn’t going away and the Cyst was still growing.

It came to a head on Saturday (21/3/09) when I work with a Migraine. Once I got over it I went into the emergency room and after a short wait was seen by the doctor. After going through the history a few times, they took a jaw x-ray and then decided to admit me to hospital to give me Intravenous antibiotics and wanted me to have a CT scan.

So I am in here for at least Sunday night and some of Monday. I am taking the chance to rest. I want to thank everyone the is helping me and my family out. Especial thanks to the staff of the hospital who have been great. Will let you know how I get on!

When we moved into our new house three years ago, one of our friends gave Patty an olive tree to plant because Patrick is well know among our friends for his love of olives. The tree grew well and is now very tall. We did wonder if it would ever flower up until about a month ago.

Then the flowers bloomed and started to go away and I did a bit of research as I was sure that just because it flowered, could it be that the plant was a male plant. Again, more research suggested that olive trees in general have male and female parts to the flowers in the one plant.

Then a week or so ago when having a look at the tree, the discovery was made. It had started to grow fruit. little green fruit was growing in a number of places all over the tree. I guess there will be more research needed to see how long to leave it and what to do when it is ready to be picked. I believe some form of pickling may be needed. Anyone with any info, feel free to leave me a comment.

In honor of the US celebrating Thanksgiviing I thought I would share a photo with something a bit more American then you (or at least I have) find in Australia. While I was over there I found that they tend to eat their Pumpkin a bit on the Sweet side.

Here is an example of that. Its Banana Bread with Pumpkin Ice Cream. I actually went to the same place two nights in a row, Flatbreads Pizza, and the food was great. I had the Banana Bread two nights in a row and on the second night plucked up the courage to have the Pumpkin Ice Cream. I came to like the sweeter side of Pumpkin and am even considering making Pumpkin Pie at some time.

I of course had the famous Legal’s Clam Chowder (photo to come later) but also had a beautiful Pumpkin Ravioli with Lobster Tails. Here is a photo I took of it.

It was fantastic! American’s seem to tend to have there Pumpkin in a sweet way (I am very tempted to try and make Pumpkin Pie). I had Pumpkin ice cream (photo also to come later) and Pumpkinhead beer (if anyone knows how to get it in Australia, please drop me a line).

Its making me hungry just looking at it!
