When we moved into our new house three years ago, one of our friends gave Patty an olive tree to plant because Patrick is well know among our friends for his love of olives. The tree grew well and is now very tall. We did wonder if it would ever flower up until about a month ago.

Then the flowers bloomed and started to go away and I did a bit of research as I was sure that just because it flowered, could it be that the plant was a male plant. Again, more research suggested that olive trees in general have male and female parts to the flowers in the one plant.

Then a week or so ago when having a look at the tree, the discovery was made. It had started to grow fruit. little green fruit was growing in a number of places all over the tree. I guess there will be more research needed to see how long to leave it and what to do when it is ready to be picked. I believe some form of pickling may be needed. Anyone with any info, feel free to leave me a comment.

Its starting feel a lot like Christmas and so it was time to put up the Christmas tree at the Malone house hold. I have to say I didn’t play any part in it this year. My mother-in-law has been helping out and she, my wife and 4 year old, Alex did it while I was at work.

It looks great in person, the photos didn’t quite work out as well. I have tried stiching a group of photos together, hopefully it looks good on the site!
